His team; Palmeiras were into the last 16 of the Copa do Brasil and were facing Cruzeiro away from home in this 2nd leg, after defeating them 2-1 at home in the 1st leg. This was his 2nd ever start in a Cup game and only the 16th in his career. Jesus assisted the opening goal which put them 3-1 ahead on aggregate. He then went onto score a double within 5 mins which put Cruzeiro's hopes to bed. The game ended 2-3 (3-5 agg.) and Palmeiras went on to advance to the Quarters, Semis and Finals where they ended up winning it all thanks in part to Jesus. The 18 year old finished the season with 8 goals and 7 assists for both club and country. Manchester City signed him the summer after for €32M and well, the rest is history! “The Match That Made” is a new series that I'm experimenting with. The concept is to show the superstars of today, in their best performance of the season before they got signed to a top club. Of course 1 game doesn't make the player who they are today but those special performances are the ones that catch the eyes of world watching!
